2.4 I can describe the features, benefits and limitations of different collaborative technology tools and devices.
1. Mobile Computing Devices - Device that is small enough to be handheld commonly known as a handheld computer.
Example: IPhone 6
Benefits: Not only can they call, text and IM, they give you access to email, video calling and video conferencing. Also remain connected through social networking sites. Wireless access and laptops moved the Web to pretty much anywhere in the house or office, but smartphone technology, including broadband wireless.
Limitation: Arguably the biggest disadvantage of a smartphone is its cost compared to standard mobile phones. A smartphone costs considerably more up front. Smartphones are able to access the Internet, either through Wi-Fi or a data package. But data security is an issue. The apps you download and the passwords that you input into these apps and websites while on-the-go are often not secure, at least in terms of account privacy.
2. Headset - A set of headphones, typically with a microphone attached, used especially in radio communication.
Example: Halo 5 smokin` buds 2
Benefits: The most important thing about Earphones is still the sound quality. These headphones are mainly used for listening to music but these headphones can be used whilst gaming on Xbox One as it has a built in microphone which allows to you to interact with other players online. They can also be used whilst you are on the phone to someone and you`d be able to hear them through the ear buds and you`d be able to communicate to them via the microphone feature on the earphones.
Limitation:
3. Content Management software - It`s secured container or receptacle into which items for example files such as documents, pictures etc can be deposited.
Example: G-Drive & DropBox
Benefits: Dropbox is one of the most popular online file storage/sharing services currently available. Cost-Dropbox is completely free, with no hidden charges leaping out at users at any time. Capacity-Users are given 2 GB of storage capacity. Sharing-Files can be shared with individual users or public by designating folders to specific users or enabling them for public sharing.
Limitation: One of the disadvantages of this service is that the administrators or developers who maintain the service have the right to delete information from free, inactive accounts. This means that if you store some information on Dropbox and abandon the account for a few months, it is unlikely that you will get it after you log back on.
4. Forum - Online Topic Discussion Within The Community.
Example: Weight Lifting
Benefits: You can get health information regarding your weight training and weight training gains. You`ll be guided to see which workouts grow which body muscle.
Limitation: The person you get advice from they could be feeding you the wrong information and they would not tell you to how to perform the exercises safely.
5. VOIP (Voice over IP) Software - Phone Service Over The Internet.
Example: Whatsapp & Viber
Benefits: It is an application that allows you to call your contacts with very low cost charges and it also has very good audio which makes it easier to understand and communicate with the person on the other side of the line.
Limitation: The down side of these apps are that it requires internet access to use these features
